You Never Know
Ringo Starr
This rare oddity recorded by Ringo Starr, "You Never Know", was a song originally included on the motion picture soundtrack Curly Sue. Written by John Bettis and Steve Dorff, Ringo sang this pleasant pop piece while signed as a recording artist with Private Music.
"You Never Know" is grounded by a piano melody, spotlighting a dual lead guitar solo. Ringo Starr has one of the most distinctive voices in rock'n roll. Remembered and beloved as the drummer of The Beatles, this melody was tailor-made for his vocal style.
The CD single version of "You Never Know" clocks in at a full seven seconds longer than the album version. Out of print and hard to find, the single is a prize to collect. The album has two other lame songs strewn among the instrumentals that complete a weak soundtrack.
