LOVE is a stunning aural experience of the music of The Beatles.
Sir George Martin, working in conjunction with his son Giles Martin, has taken the Beatles recordings, stripped apart their elemental components, reassembled altogether "new" audio sketches as moving "sound pieces", and created a totally NEW "way" to hear The Beatles in a compelling new suite of classic Beatles songs reworked into a total sonic soundscape.
The album is a fascinating twist on a familiar theme of Beatles music & magic. As the soundtrack to LOVE, the music provides a foundation for the Las Vegas presentation. The source material borrowed from the Abbey Road vaults acted as a guide to recreate Beatles music anew for the LOVE spectacle.
LOVE is a cool concept. The Martin & Martin team did a FAB job of revamping the Beatles classics into a quirky musical treasure tale, brimming with the rich textures and subtle nuances that the Beatles wove across their musical album masterpieces.
Martin & Martin pulled off a complicated job of successfully reintroducing a revised body of work from The Beatles to top the charts. Because it is so powerful, it may over time confuse later generations from what the Beatles originally intended as their commercial releases, but, that's showbiz.
LOVE focuses on the MUSIC that the Fab Four created primarily from the Lennon-McCartney song writing partnership. Although John & Paul contributed most of the compositions to the Fab's catalogue of magical music, George and Ringo added their own individual musical touches as well with invaluable contributions.
LOVE, as a soundtrack presentation on stage in Las Vegas, celebrates the MUSIC of The Beatles, including audio snippets of the Fabs conversing and horsing about in the studio. The foursome carry on together, infusing their dynamic chemistry as another crucial element to embellish the production values of the media spectacle.
This project was an idea that Harrison wanted to pursue, but would Lennon have sanctioned this form of over the top production? This multifaceted media extravaganza might eventually foster confusion about the intent of the original inspiration behind the Beatles songs mashed together.
One missing Beatles tune that should have qualified for inclusion in this project is "Carnival Of Light", an unreleased instrumental outtake from 1967 that Harrison vetoed off the Anthology II album. This soundtrack would have provided the perfect opportunity to release this lost instrumental commercially, but alas, did not surface.
LOVE comes alive in Las Vegas. Experience LOVE live on stage. Based upon Beatles music that the Fab FIVE worked on together within the walls of Abbey Road studios, this album is Sir George Martin's swansong, and a tremendous epilogue for an incredible career.
