Happy Xmas (War Is Over)

The Plastic Ono Band

John Lennon's holiday classic, "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)", recorded with the Harlem Community Choir contributing the harmony chorus, was re-released to commemorate what would have been the former Beatle's 63rd birthday in December 2003.

The CD single features a triple-decker treat of Lennon classics. "Happy Xmas", credited to the Plastic Ono Band, was originally issued in 1971 on green vinyl. The 45 RPM single came out too late in the season and failed to become an immediate hit with the general public.

The title track from Lennon's 1971 opus, "Imagine", is recognized by many of his fans as a utopian anthem, prompting the world to embrace peace. "Instant Karma (We All Shine On)" was one Lennon's earliest popular solo singles that charted following his departure from the Fab Four.
